2001 Audi A4

Pros Great interior, rich-looking materials, good value, fuel economy, attention to detail
Cons 2.8L engine is somewhat weak
Recommended it? Yes

Well, one guy wrote here (about 2001 Audi A4) that it has a 3.0-liter engine and goes 0-60 in less than 7 seconds. This stuff has nothing to do with the ongoing 2001 Audi A4 model, those were specs of the 2002 model that will go on sale in the fall of 2001.

Current (2001 model year) Audi... Read full review »

The Audi A4: an excellent car, but you should wait for the 2002 model

bytpink Mar 28, 2001

Pros performance; styling; high quality materials; good value for money; quattro drive
Cons lack of passenger space; average fuel economy
Recommended it? Yes

A good friend of mine recently bought a fully-loaded Audi A4 2.8 quattro with the sports package, leather seats, moonroof, Bose stereo system with 6 CD changer and a tiptronic transmission. This car is a worthy challenger to the BMW 3series as the standard bearer for the near-luxury sports sedan... Read full review »

I have owned this car since last summer, and so far I give it very high marks. I have divided this review into sections.

1. Description
The model I purchased (used) is a 2001 Audi A4 1.8 Turbo with Quattro (Audi's tried and true all wheel drive) and a 5-speed manual. It has the cold... Read full review »

Great second hand car.

Pros Quality interior finish. Quattro handling is excellent.
Cons Tiptronic lacks response. Stock suspension (non sport) too soft. Still a little pricey.
Recommended it? Yes

First off, I am writing this review based on my experience with a second hand 2001 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro with Tiptronic that was purchased in Canada.

I made the purchase from an Audi dealership in March 2004. It was an off-lease vehicle, with 45000KM driven. In the past 6 months, I have... Read full review »

A really nice car, but is it worth it?

bybrucec32 Oct 5, 2001

Pros Handsome styling, germanic solidity, handling, well engineered
Cons Smallish for the price, clutch takeup, 1.8T needs more power, aging design
Recommended it? Yes

I test drove the 2001 Audi A4 1.8T with a 5 speed manual transmission. I probably wasn't going to buy one, since it's a design that dates from 1996 models, and the new 2002 model is just arriving at dealerships, but I they didn't have any 2002's and I wanted to see how recent Audi's look, feel, and... The perfect blend of performance, safety, and luxury.

Pros All weather performance, still looks new after 3 years. (now 4 years actually)
Cons Slightly too firm of a ride. Must use premium gas.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought my Audi A4 2.8 Quattro used, but it still looks and feels like a new car. Most persons thought it was a new car. I've put a little over 15K miles on it and still love it. I think the combination of performance, safety, and luxury is perfect.

A nice compromise

Pros Quality workmanship, luxurious, understated class, feels like a Mercedes
Cons Soft suspension (relatively), prefer the stick-shift model

I'm not a car guy. I'm a motorcyclist, and generally speaking, my lot feels strongly that you folks should be forbidden from driving on public roads.

It took me a very long time to decide what exactly I wanted in a car. Since it had four wheels, comfort might as well be important, and I... Read full review »

If more people knew how great Audi's really are...

Pros Quattro handling; engine performance; classy styling; gorgeous, rich-looking interior.
Cons Cons? No way! Except that there aren't more on the road.
Recommended it? Yes

Wow! That's what I said after getting out of the driver's seat for the very first time.

I live in a city with a moderately high altitude, and can tell you that most naturally aspirated cars don not perform nearly as well as they do at sea level...but not this little rocket. The turbo... Read full review »

Great sports sedan!

Pros Awesome car, German feel, great handling
Cons Small backseat
Recommended it? Yes

I love my 2001 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro, it fits me like a fine suit. I compared the BMW 325Xi and for the same options it would have been $5000 more! The Audi has a much nicer dash layout and the Audi Quattro is a much better system than the BMW's. The Audi uses Torsen differentials while the BMW uses... Read full review »

Best German sports sedan for the price

bya_shrubbery Jun 27, 2001

Pros Incredible build quality, top rate handling, absolute joy to own
Cons slightly cramped back seat, could use more power
Recommended it? Yes

After some extensive research to find a car to fit my needs, this was the one that fit the bill. For $27,000 you get everything you could ask for in a sporting sedan.

Audi has been on a upswing since the introduction of the A4 in 1995 (in Europe, 1996 for the US). After the company's... Read full review »
