The Bottom Line:
Do not buy this. Like I said, it's very noisy, messy and "weak".
I bought a shredder from Target a couple of years ago, $30 with built in pencil sharpener. The pencil sharpener never worked and the little automatic feed tab broke off and so I jumped at the chance to get a new one at Menards $19.99 with a $5 rebate making the final price $14.99! And one of my beef with the old one was that the "basket" was "solid plastic", meaning that the paper didn't have the chance to drop to the bottom of the basket until the top was taken off and the vaccuum seal was broken.
Well, I'm sorry I didn't "jury rig" the feed tab and keep my old one!
This says "5 sheets maximum". That is if you are using that paper they make air-mail envelopes out of. Five sheets into this puppy makes it sound like it's gonna break!
And the sound in general - VERY LOUD!!
It takes a second or two of you putting the paper in the feeder for the feeder to react and start to shred, that is annoying.
And it runs for about two seconds after the job is done. But when it is SO LOUD that two seconds can seem longer.
Oh, and the basket I thought was better, it's WORSE. Those micro shreds of paper created when your crosscutting easily fit through the mesh basket and create a paper snow around the shredder.
I learned my lesson: hear and test before buying and don't get a mesh basket.
