A Consistent & Reliable Friend For 18 Years~ Egads! Am I That Much Older Too~!~
I bought my Minolta X-700 so long ago I do not even remember how much I paid for it~ I do remember where I bought it from, and I remember the excitement of owning my very own SLR camera. If I had to buy another camera right now, I would stick with the Minolta X-700 ~ it has more than proven itself... Read full review »
Still a Fine Choice, Great for Beginners and Intermediates or Those With Limited Budgets
The Minolta X-700 was the second SLR I ever owned; the first being an X-370 purchased as part of a kit in 1986. That camera went everywhere with me and after thousands of photos, the film advance crank went in 1998 when I was taking shots of Iraqi Kurds who had fled to Turkey. Since I already had... Great outside, cheap inside..
One of my earliest SLR 35mm cameras was a Minolta X-700, purchased many years ago. I liked the camera a lot, and a year later I bought another X-700 as a backup camera.
My X-700s worked fine for about two years after that and gave excellent results, then the first one quit on me. Film...

camera comeback
Minolta X-700...what a camera. About five years ago my camera was stolen. I was fairly new in the photography field at the mere age of 18, but it was still a devastation to lose my camera, i mean, for the first time in my life, i knew what i wanted to do. So without haste, i managed to scrounge up... Read full review »
A Great Little Camera, But...
If what you want is a manual SLR camera with some program automation, then the Minolta X-700 may be just for you. However, it's not necessarily the ideal camera.
I purchased an X-700 nearly ten years ago (at a good price, too) and found it to be a very worthy camera. Battery life was long...

The Minolta X-series: underrated, but the best deal on the market
I am a photographer, and while it's not my career I'm very serious about the equipment I buy and the images I produce. So when other photographers with jazzy new Nikon AF gear smirked at my Minolta X-700 and X-570, I used to feel downright insulted. Now, I just think of the great deals I've taken... Great Quality for a Good Price
Back in junior high school, we had to take a black and white camera/ darkroom photography course. We could use whatever camera was available, but 35mm was preferred. Knowing that my father had one, I asked to use his for this class, and through the semester I learned many things about "our" camera,... Read full review »
Great Manual Camera
The Minolta X-700 is the top-of-the-line manual focus camera from Minolta. It is simple, solid and extremely flexible. This was my primary pro camera for many years and it never let me down.
The X-700 is a manual focus camera (you focus the camera) with a variable electronic shutter. The...

Best manual camera you will ever use
The X-700 has to be the best damn manual SLR camera you will ever buy. This camera has outlasted almost all of its rivals from the 1980?s most notably the Canon AE-1. Pound for pound this will beat them all out there. I purchased this camera in the early 1980?s and it is still going strong today... Read full review »
My first SLR
I bought my Minolta X-700 for $100 used from a pawn shop. I was interested in learning about photography and on a tight budget; this camera met both needs. I used it for approximately 2 years before I switched to digital cameras. I was highly satistfied with my camera, here's what it has to offer:... Read full review »
