"Advance Replacement Warranty" didn't get me an advance replacement
Pros
Beautiful display. Easy to switch from VGA to DVI inputs.
Cons
Warranty. Speakers are so-so. Awkwardly placed headphone jack.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Excellent performance, but couldn't get one that worked. Planar couldn't get me the replacement in the time the warranty indicates.
I have a PL2010M on my desk at work and love it.
The image is beautiful and rock solid. I've never seen a stuck pixel.
I didn't need a KVM because it's easy to switch between the DVI and VGA inputs with the front-panel buttons (3 clicks).
Everything said in the previous two reviews here about its performance is true.
That is, of course, as long as you get one that works. If you don't you may discover, as I did, that Planar's "Advance Replacement Warranty" only gets you a replacement if Planar happens to have one available for you.
In my case they didn't, so when mine died after 3 weeks I had to pay to ship it back to the online retailer I bought it from. Planar said it might be three weeks before I had a working one otherwise. The replacement unit was DOA too, so I ended up getting a refund. Maybe that retailer was shipping me units they knew were bad, and maybe not.
I'm a pretty unhappy customer. I live in Beaverton near Planar's HQ, and have an opportunity to buy one of their monitors now with the "Friends and Family" discount. Given this experience (1 for 3) I think I'll pass.
I'm still looking for a good 1600x1200 LCD for less than $600.
