On palate texture is of granite dust, warm clay and bacon fat. Flavors are reminiscent of black licorice, Roasted pecans, vanilla bean and cherry currant.

2009 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

Our grape bunches were hand-sorted, and once de-stemmed, berries were again sorted by hand on way to tank. This was followed by a four to five day cold soak, depending on flavor extraction. wine was then fermented with native wild yeast in small open-top fermentors for two to three weeks. Towards end of fermentation fruit was gently pressed and moved to barrel. wine finished fermenting in barrel to help integrate flavors from oak. The wine continued to age in 70% new French oak for fifteen months. wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Wine Spectator rating: 88.
