A Bordeaux blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon: 76%, 12% Merlot, 7.5% Malbec, 3% Carmenere and 1.5% Petit Verdot. Like previous year, 2006 was a long, cool growing season with a late harvest in our Estate Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. As in 2005 these shallow soiled hillside vineyards were still quite able to produce a small crop of very ripe grapes. harvest began in final week of October, but with warmer conditions proceeded at a brisk pace, finishing at end of first week of November; a week earlier than in 2005. wine is a bit more lush, ripe, and fruit forward than its predecessor as a result, and yet still has substantial structure. The Wine Advocate rating: 90.

vineyard takes its name from an abandoned stretch of early 20th century Sonoma County highway. That link with past is especially important to us, as these are only grapes we still crush by foot (really). This is a great vintage for Syrah and it may have produced my favorite wine of 2010 harveSaint wine is bright purple, deep and dark, with an exotic aroma of crushed berries and fennel. There's a trace of freshly ground black pepper in there too, along with some clove or allspice. Properly ripened Syrah has most complex aroma of all old-world varieties, I think, and we seem to have captured it here. I like softness too. It makes for an attractive weight on tongue, neither heavy nor vapid, with a texture that swallows easily. This one seems to define 'Finish'.

1997 Alexander Valley is a wine of great intensity and balance. It has a dark garnet color and a rich nose of blackberry jam, licorice, sandalwood and ginger. It has a juicy, full attack with loads of berry character, excellent body and a long, rich, fruity finish. It will improve for 15 years given proper cellaring.

On palate, wine is rich and full, reminiscent of flavors of a berry cobbler. It has a long, fruity finish with fine grained tannins, and is a testament to exquisite ripeness at moderate alcohol. #22 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2011 As is typical of our Freeman Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, 2009 vintage is quite reserved in its youth-though already hinting at its inherent complexity and exceptional aging potential. After a good swirl, or a quick decant, shy nose of gravelly earth, mushrooms, perfume and mint starts to emerge. On palate, there's a mouthful of deep fruit that lasts long into finish and is rounded out by subtle hints of French oak. We anticipate '09 Sonoma Coast Pinot to start to open up by early 2012 and last right through decade to 2020. International Wine Cellar rating: 91.
