Spring was characterised by temperate conditions, scarce rains, and lack of heat stress, all of which favored sound, healthy fruit. Light rains during summer helped maintain groundwater reserves for vines. August was not excessively hot, with result that ripeness in various sections of grape (pulp, skin, pip) developed evenly and with good balance. For over a century of production, it is most important red wine. In cellar of Barbi Farm, one can see a collection of thousands of bottles of Brunello, starting from harvest of 1892. It ferments on average for 14 days in steel tanks without ever exceeding 28°C. It is then refined for at least two years in barrels of Slavonian oak and four months in bottles.
