overall judgement on 2006 vintage is very positive, in particular for quality level of grapes brought in. Spring was characterised by temperate conditions, scarce rains, and lack of heat stress, all of which favored sound, healthy fruit. Light rains during summer helped maintain groundwater reserves for vines. August was not excessively hot, with result that ripeness in various sections of grape (pulp, skin, pip) developed evenly and with good balance. September and October brought sunny days, dry and crisp, which were desired conditions for producing all of qualities necessary to making of high-quality, firmly- structured wines. 2008 will therefore long be remembered as a particularly difficult vintage (a very big threat of disease –even greater than in 2007). There was also permanent rain, though actual rainfall was light –to extent that year is classed as a dry one. A dry 100% Chardonnay white wine with a golden colour and green glints that brings a mineral bouquet of nice floral touches. Its great presence in mouth is reinforced by fullness, power, and coolness that perfectly harmonize. The flavors are often on the floral tone of hawthorn with a hint of fresh hazelnuts. This wine can be enjoyed as an appetiser. Pouilly-Fuissé goes well with seafood (grilled lobster), fish (pikeperch, salmon, saint-pierre, sole and more), white meats (roasted pork), poultry (chicken in salted crust) and cheeses (saint-nectaire, charolle, comté and more).

2001 vintage of this wine was ranked #1 on Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 2004 2005 was marked by drought. Only 127 mm of rain fell during winter, and following a month of April with some more rain (129 mm), dry weather began again at end of May. summer was first very hot in June and July, then cooler in August and September, which allowed slow ripening and good balance between body and freshness. Beautiful intense golden color. Pleasantly fresh, showing jammy notes and candied fruit (apricots, figs). Round and smooth on palate, with candied notes and a long finish.
