This really was one of the worst experiences I've had shopping on-line. I ordered an Aimpoint CompC3 red dot rifle scope ($389) and a pair of flip caps to go with it ($15 a piece) on April 12th, 2008 through their website. I eventually received two FedEx tracking numbers indicating that the order was shipped in two separate boxes. The first box didn't ship until the following Friday, the 18th. The second shipped the next day, Saturday the 19th... a week after I ordered it.
The first package arrived Tuesday the 22nd. All that was in the box was a single flip cap and a packing slip indicating that the other flip cap and scope were shipped separately. The second box arrived the next day, Wednesday the 23rd. It contained the other flip cap and that was it. Thursday I called to inquire as to where the scope was. The first time I called, I was put on hold and I can only assume accidentally disconnected. I called back and the person I spoke with thought it was odd I didn't get it, then put me on hold. When she came back, I was told that it had in fact already shipped, and that I should receive it in the next few days. If I hadn't received it by Monday the 28th, to call back.
FedEx delivers in the morning usually, so when I hadn't received it by Monday afternoon, I called. The person I spoke with told me that the first person had put in a replacement order (which means she lied when she told me it already shipped), and that it should go out that day and gave me a tracking number.
On Thursday the 1st, the tracking number indicated that the scope still hadn't shipped, so I called. I was told that the order was canceling itself in the system, and thus the tracking number was bogus, but that it would go out that day. I asked for a tracking number and was told that one would be emailed to me when it entered the system.
Monday the 5th... still nothing, so I called again, and the person on the phone seemed absolutely perplexed. Apparently there were five different tracking numbers associated with just the scope and *all* of them were bogus. She indicated that she was getting off work in 15 minutes, but would go take care of it immediately and call me back the next day.
She never did.
I called this morning, Wednesday the 7th, to ask what was going on. I was told that the scope had been back ordered. I told her this was the fifth time I called, and the first time I was told it was back ordered. She apologized, and when I asked when it would be back in stock she said the end of the month, almost two months after I had ordered it. I canceled the order then and there.
I can understand one or two minor screw ups or oversights, but that it took a month and five phone calls... during at least one of which I was lied to... to be told that I didn't have it because it was simply back ordered is absolutely ridicules. I'm not doing business with them again.
